English as a First Language is designed for those who have English as their mother tongue. Thus it goes without saying that it is an exponentially harder subject when compared to English as a Second Language. English as a First Language is fully reliant on your writing ability. In total, candidates are required to write long essays ranging from 300 words at least to 750 words at most per essay. You may also enroll for the Speaking and Listening Test or coursework. This is optional and does not contribute to your overall results received from the written components. Instead, your speaking and listening test will be graded from 1(high) to 5(low).

As for English as a Second Language, you can either choose to sit for Speaking Endorsement (0510) or Count-In Speaking (0511). The components in both papers are the same where there are three main parts :

(a) Reading and Writing

(b) Listening

(c) Speaking
